Getting Started

This guide walks you through the wiring and installation of your roof visor’s integrated lighting system.
Your visor uses 3 Spot/ Flood lights and 2 Surface-Mount Pill Style Marker Lights/Flashers.
Because you purchased the Spotlight Wiring Harness, that harness takes care of the 3 center spotlights. It includes the plug-in connections for those lights, the fuse, and the switch. You do not need to build a separate spotlight power circuit.

The harness does not include the 2 pill lights. Those two lights must still be wired using the instructions below.

Required Tools & Materials​

Please Note: The Spotlight Wiring Harness includes the plug-in leads, fuse, and switch for the 3 center spotlights. Wiring, fuses, and switches for the 2 outer pill lights are not included and must be purchased separately. The following guide is intended solely as an example of a typical installation and does not constitute a complete technical manual. Customers should alter these steps as necessary to fit their specific vehicle, equipment, and preferences.
Tools Required

• Wire Strippers & Crimpers: For cutting and securing wire connections.
• Digital Multimeter or Test Light: To verify 12V power sources.
• Heat Gun: For sealing heat-shrink connectors.
• Socket Wrench Set: For battery disconnection.
• Drill & Stepped Drill Bit: Required if you are installing aftermarket switches.
• Trim Removal Tools: To safely route wires behind the headliner and A-pillar.
• Zip Ties: To secure the wire loom.

Materials Needed for the 2 Outer Pill Lights (Purchase Separately)

• Pill Light Power (Main Run): ~20 ft of 16 AWG (Red).
• Grounding: ~10 ft of 12 or 14 AWG (Black).
• Pattern Select (Run to Dash): ~20 ft of 18 AWG (Yellow).
• Synchronization (Visor Jumper): ~2 ft of 18 AWG (Yellow). Joins the two outer pill lights together inside the visor.
• Fuses & Holders: 1x In-line Fuse Holder with 5A Fuse.
• Switches:
  Option A (Factory Aux Switches): Use if your Tacoma is equipped.
  Option B (Aftermarket Switches): 1x Toggle/Rocker Switch (On/Off) – For Pill Light Main Power. 1x Momentary Push-Button Switch – For Pill Light Pattern Select.

Do not use an On/Off toggle for the yellow pattern-select wire. The yellow wire must only receive power when the momentary button is pressed.
Pill Light Wire Colors

• RED: Main power (+12V)
• BLACK: Ground
• YELLOW: Synchronization and pattern select
• WHITE: Not used. Cap and insulate each white wire separately. Do not connect the two white wires together.

These pill lights do not use a master/slave setup. Connecting the yellow wires together keeps both lights synchronized.
Step-by-Step Installation

Phase 1: Bench Assembly (Wiring the Visor)
Perform these steps with the visor placed on a stable workbench. Do not mount it to the truck yet.

1. Install Lights: Secure all 5 lights (3 Center Spotlights, 2 Outer Pill Lights) into the visor shell.
2. Connect the Spotlight Wiring Harness: Plug the 3 center spotlights into the harness connectors. Do not splice additional power wire onto the spotlight leads. The harness already includes the fuse and switch for these three lights. Follow the instructions included with the harness for any remaining spotlight connections.
3. Ground the Pill Lights:

• Locate the thin BLACK wires from the 2 outer pill lights.
• Splice them together into your single 12-14 AWG BLACK ground wire.
• Leave this ground wire long enough (~10 ft) to reach a chassis ground point on the truck later.
• The 3 center spotlights ground through the Spotlight Wiring Harness. Do not cut those harness ground leads.

1. Wire the Outer Pill Lights (2):

• Main Power: Connect the RED wire from the Driver side pill light to the RED wire from the Passenger side pill light. Attach your 16 AWG main power wire to this connection.
• Synchronization / Pattern Select: Connect the YELLOW wire from the Driver side light directly to the YELLOW wire from the Passenger side light using the short 2 ft jumper. Attach your long 18 AWG yellow pattern-select wire to this same connection. The yellow wires remain permanently connected together so both lights stay synchronized and change patterns at the same time.
• White Wires: The WHITE wires are not used. Cap and insulate each white wire separately. Do not connect the two white wires together.

1. Loom & Secure: You should now have two sets of wiring exiting the visor: the Spotlight Wiring Harness, plus the pill-light bundle (Ground, Pill Light Power, and Pattern Select). Route them together and wrap them in wire loom/tape for protection. (You may choose to use either a black tape to match the windshield, or a body colored tape to make the wire more incognito.)

Phase 2: Vehicle Routing & Switch Prep

1. Disconnect Battery: Remove the negative (-) terminal.
2. Install Switches: Install the switch included with the Spotlight Wiring Harness for the 3 center spotlights. Mount your pill-light On/Off switch and momentary pattern button in the cab, or assign those functions to factory Aux switches if your Tacoma is equipped.
3. Run the Wiring:

• Position the visor temporarily on the roof to check wire length (do not bolt down yet).
• Route the Spotlight Wiring Harness and the pill-light wiring down the windshield channel or through the roof (depending on your specific install preference) and into the dashboard area.
• Run the pill-light BLACK Ground wire to a solid metal bolt on the chassis/frame. Remove paint, rust, and dirt from the contact area so you have a clean metal-to-metal connection. Ground the spotlight harness as shown in the harness instructions.

Phase 3: Final Connections
Spotlights
Make the power, ground, fuse, and switch connections exactly as shown in the Spotlight Wiring Harness instructions. No additional spotlight circuit is required.
Pill Light Main Power
Battery positive → 5A fuse → Pill Light On/Off switch → 16 AWG red wire leading to both pill lights.
Install the 5A fuse as close to the power source as practical.
Pill Light Pattern Select
Use a normally open momentary push-button switch.

• Connect one terminal of the momentary switch to the switched +12V output of the pill light main power switch.
• Connect the other terminal of the momentary switch to the long YELLOW wire leading to the joined yellow wires on both pill lights.

The pattern switch must be connected after the main power switch. This keeps the pattern-select circuit from receiving power unless the pill lights are turned on. When the button is pressed, it temporarily applies switched +12V to the joined yellow wires.
Do not use an On/Off toggle switch for the yellow pattern-select circuit. The yellow wire must not remain continuously connected to positive power.

Phase 4: System Test
Test the system BEFORE permanently mounting the visor to ensure all crimps and plug-in connections are solid.

1. Reconnect the battery.
2. Check Spotlights: Turn on the switch included with the Spotlight Wiring Harness. All 3 center lights should come on.
3. Check Pill Lights: Turn on Pill Light Main Power. Both outer lights should begin flashing in their currently stored pattern.
4. Check Sync: Press and release the momentary button. Both pill lights should advance to the next flash pattern at the same time.
5. Reset to Pattern 1: Press and hold the momentary button for approximately five seconds, then release it.
6. Confirm that both WHITE wires on the pill lights remain separately capped and insulated.

If the two outer lights are not synchronized, verify that both yellow wires are permanently connected together, both lights are receiving the same switched +12V power, and both black wires have a secure ground.

Phase 5: Final Mounting
1.) Dry-fit your Roof Visor by following the instructions below without removing the backing to the 3M double-sided tape. Ensure the part is centered and make note of its positioning for reference later. This will give you the opportunity to practice the installation without permanently installing the overlay on the truck. Centering this part during the dry fit is an essential step to know where you want to position your part before installing, do not skip this step.
2.) Ensure the roof is clean and free of debris where the 3m tape will be touching down. Use Isopropyl rubbing alcohol to free the surface of any chemicals or soap residue that may limit the effectiveness of the 3M tape.
3.) Apply the adhesion promoter to the areas of the roof where the 3M tape will be touching down. (Read the instructions on the adhesion promoter tube to learn how to begin the flow of adhesion promoter.)
4.) Before it is time to install the overlay, we must address the red backing tape. For all exterior/outside pieces of 3m, take the edges of tape and peel them back 1" to the front of the visor, securing them in place with masking tape. This will ensure we have access to the tape when we install them on the top. For the four interior strips, peel the backing tape completely off the part. Refer to the picture below for clarification.

5.) Position your Visor over the area of the roof you want to house it on before applying any pressure. Once you're in position, begin applying pressure to one side of the overlay and slowly continue with that pressure down the rest of the Visor. ​

6.) Remove the masking tape securing the 3m tape in place. Peel back the 3m tape from the visor on all remaining 3m pieces of tape. Apply pressure to the part as you remove the tape from one side to the other. 

*Only if you have it.* After all 3m tape is removed and pressure applied, remove the protective film from your visor.

7.) Wait 48 hours before taking your vehicle through automated car washes or driving on the highway.  Reapply pressure to all taped areas 24 hours after the initial installation.

Care for your Shellz™

Most Shellz colors will function much like paint.  They can be buffed, polished, taken through automated car washes, and whatever else you would normally do.  Some ABS colors can be sanded down and re-painted if ever you decide you want to change colors.  The only color that cannot be polished, and re-painted is the Textured Black TPO.
