Use and purpose of Black-Out tape

Black-out tape, although not necessary for the function of the part, helps to lower the possibility of chrome showing in certain sensitive locations for the following reasons:

• Slightly imprecise installation
• Variation in the vehicle's trim placement
• Expansion and contraction of part due to temperature changes

It is up to the user's judgment to use black-out tape, although we would recommend it for the best results. If more than 1/8" of chrome is showing. This may be indicative of an installation problem. Reach out to customer service for recommendations for fixes. 

Applying the Tape

note: this should be done immediately after the dry-fit, and before the final installation.

1. Peel the white backing off of the black out tape to expose the adhesive side. 

2. Place the black-out tape on the area indicated by the two images below.
