Ecoological FAQ's

1. What is Ecoological?
Ecoological is an automotive aftermarket product manufacturer located in Rocklin, California. We manufacture thermoformed ABS and TPO overlays for trucks, a truck cargo box called the AeroBox, and an extruded rubber product called the GapShield. Our primary product, Shellz, is manufactured entirely in-house, including tooling, fixture creation, CNC programming, 3D scanning, manufacturing runs, CNC trimming, finishing, packaging, and shipping.

2. What are Shellz?
Shellz are our thermoformed overlays, sometimes called BumperShellz. While originally only for bumpers, we now offer overlays for bumpers, grilles, mirrors, door handles, tailgate appliques, and other trim areas.

3. Do you manufacture products for other companies or take custom manufacturing work?
Yes. If a product can be thermoformed, we can handle the full process from initial design, CAD, programming, CAM, to final manufacturing. If you have a custom project, contact us to discuss your idea.

4. How long has Ecoological been in business?
We’ve been in business for 12 years, starting in a garage in Newcastle, California, then moving to Auburn, and finally, three years ago, to our current facility in Rocklin.

5. Do you manufacture your own products?
Yes, we fully manufacture Shellz in-house. The GapShield and AeroBox are made at partner facilities in the Midwest.

6. Who do you sell your products to?
We sell directly to customers, dropship partners, retail stores, warehouse distributors, and vehicle upfitters.

7. Do you make OEM replacement parts?
No, but our surface and finish quality is designed to match or exceed OEM performance.

8. Do you make custom one-off parts?
We typically do not make single custom parts due to cost. Custom projects must meet minimum order quantities, be profitable, and fit within our machine capabilities.

9. Where can I find warranty information?
Please see our Warranty Page for full details.

10. How do I place an order?
Orders can be placed through www.ecoological.com or by calling our customer service team.

11. What is your typical lead time?
For individual orders, lead time is 3–7 business days. Time-sensitive orders should be discussed with customer service.

12. What truck models do your products fit?
We cover most later-model full-size trucks (F-150, F-250 Super Duty, Silverado, Sierra, Ram) and medium-size trucks (Tacoma, Tundra, select 4Runner models). For a complete list, check the product pages or call customer service.

13. Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Additional costs and lead times apply for international shipping.

14. How is shipping calculated?
Shipping is based on package size. Costs range from $10 to $120 depending on the product.

15. Are your products easy to install?
Newer products are designed for customers with limited experience, with detailed instructions and videos. If uncomfortable, you can contact us or a local body shop for installation.

16. Do I need special tools to install Shellz?
Usually no. Check instructions — tools may include screwdrivers, wrenches, ratchets, or plastic pry tools.

17. Do you provide installation instructions?
Yes, all products include step-by-step instructions, often with videos.

18. Can I install the product myself or should I use a professional?
Self-installation is recommended as the product is designed for limited experience. Body shops are an option but may not be familiar with our products.

19. How do I know if your product fits my truck?
Each listing states years, models, and trims. Contact customer service with questions or photos.

20. How do I clean and maintain your products?
Clean like your truck. Follow paint care best practices.

21. Are your parts UV/fade resistant?
All finished products (except paintable versions) resist UV and fading, often better than the OEM coating.

22. Will your parts hold up in extreme weather?
If installed per instructions (heated area if <65°F, 48-hour tape cure), products withstand extreme heat and cold. Cold may slightly increase cracking risk.

23. What materials are your products made of?
  • Shellz/Bumper Shellz: ABS with acrylic overlay (some TPO)
  • GapShield: Synthetic rubber blend with 3M tape
  • AeroBox: Linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE)

24. How are your parts different from cheaper alternatives?
Made in the USA, molded in color, high surface finish, durable, and improved using customer feedback — unlike many overseas products.

25. Do you use recycled or eco-friendly materials?
Yes. We use recycled materials in nearly all of our products, while ensuring that the recycled content does not affect the premium finish quality that our customers expect.

26. What is your return policy?
See our Return Policy Page.

27. What should I do if my part arrives damaged?
Contact customer service or fill out the form on our website to file a claim and get a replacement.

28. Who do I contact for support?
Email [email protected] or call 844‑918‑3688 ext. 0.

29. Will I receive tracking information immediately after placing an order?
No, you may not receive tracking immediately. Tracking typically becomes available after the product has gone through our standard lead time. Do not be alarmed if it takes a few days to appear.

30. What payment methods do you accept?
Ecoological accepts the payment methods listed on our website during checkout. For any specific questions, please contact our customer service team.

31. Are your products compatible with lifted or modified trucks?
Our products are generally compatible with lifted or modified trucks. If alterations are necessary, contact us first. Keep in mind that modifications may void the product warranty.

32. How do I care for gloss vs. matte finishes?
Gloss finishes can be cared for like your truck’s paint and scratches can often be buffed out. Matte finishes should avoid abrasives, and scratches or scuffs cannot be buffed.

33. How long does 3M tape take to adhere fully?
3M recommends 48 hours for full adhesion. During this time, avoid car washes, highways, and extreme heat. Keep the vehicle in a stable thermal environment for optimal adhesion.

34. Can I paint my ABS overlay?
Yes, ABS overlays can be painted. Matte or glossy surfaces may require slight extra care. Use standard painting procedures: sanding (400–600 grit), degreasing, and an adhesion promoter.

35. How do I know if the OEM color I choose will match my truck?
We paint to the OEM color code specification. However, variations in OEM paint, age, sunlight exposure, and other factors may affect the match. For exact color matching, consider our paintable versions and a local body shop.

36. What is the difference between acrylic-colored and OEM-painted bumper covers?
Acrylic overlays have a perfectly smooth, directional color and are more durable, cheaper, and have a shorter lead time. OEM-painted surfaces are less smooth with a random paint pattern, which can affect light reflection and perceived color.

37. What precautions should I take during installation in cold weather?
Install in a heated area if temperatures are below 65°F, and use a hair dryer to warm the area. Allow 48 hours for tape curing before exposing the vehicle to extreme conditions.

38. Are parts pre-painted with my color code?
Most parts already list the available OEM color codes. If your color isn’t listed, contact customer service — we can usually match any OEM color.

39. Is special maintenance required after installation?
No special maintenance is required beyond normal truck care. Immediately after installation, apply pressure to areas with 3M tape for several hours (up to 24 hours) to ensure proper adhesion.

40. Do you offer bulk or wholesale pricing?
Yes. Businesses can apply to become a retailer through our retail application. Our team will provide instructions for next steps.

41. What is your warranty coverage?
For complete details, please visit the Warranty Page.

42. Will an overlay fit on a dented or damaged bumper?
BumperShellz typically work on bumpers with minor dents or rust, depending on location and severity. For a more informed assessment, send a picture of the damage. Note: this is not a guarantee of fit.

43. What should I do if I can’t find a product or model on the website?
Submit a request via our New Model Request or Early Interest Form pages to let us know which products you’re interested in.

44. Will my painted part match my truck exactly?
Although our paint quality is extremely high, variations in OEM paint, sunlight exposure, and vehicle age may result in a color mismatch. For an exact match, consider our paintable versions and a local body shop.

45. What if my BumperShellz or side covers don’t fit my truck?
If your truck has painted OEM side covers (like Platinum or Lariat Sport F-150s), our overlays may not fit. Send a photo to customer service for verification. Generally, if the entire bumper is one color, a fit may be possible.

46. How do I check if a bumper shell will fit my vehicle?
Send a photo of the area you wish to cover to our customer service team. We’ll confirm whether the bumper shell is compatible.

47. What if I need to install a part on a truck that has existing damage?
Minor rust or dents may be compatible, but larger damage may prevent proper installation. Send a photo for a more precise assessment. Installation is not guaranteed on damaged areas.

48. How do I handle shipping damage or claims?
Contact customer service immediately to start a claim with the shipping company. Fill out the form on our website if necessary to receive a replacement part.
