Inspect Part For Paint Match Before Installation
Your Shellz™ are molded with the factory certified OEM spec color code acrylic cap OR painted with the “prime” OEM color code. However, due to a range of factors, this color might differ from what is found on your truck. These factors are listed below.
Because of these factors, variation is expected, and as a result we DO NOT guarantee a "color match" to your truck. Follow the instructions below for how to check your part for a vehicle paint match.
- Age of the paint: even after a few months, the degradation of waxes and protective coatings cause paint colors to change
- UV damage and sun exposure will cause slight changes in paint color rapidly
- Different mixes of metallics and color ratios from different paint runs at the factory
- Material variation: surface textures and background colors change from material to material. This means that the paint on your own truck will look slightly different on the body panels that are metal vs. plastic.
Because of these factors, variation is expected, and as a result we DO NOT guarantee a "color match" to your truck. Follow the instructions below for how to check your part for a vehicle paint match.
How To Check Paint Match
- Place the part against the vehicle in the orientation it will be when fully installed. This means performing a partial dry-fit without removing any of the backing to the 3M tape.
- Peel back a section of the protective film (if present) near another painted body panel of your truck.
- Examine the piece in different angles and in different lights. View the part when it is shaded and in direct sunlight. *note. We've had some reports of the ACRYLIC colors taking on a slightly purple hue during the morning sun hours
- If you are satisfied with the color match, you may begin your installation by following the provided instructions. If you are not satisfied, continue reading below
