Frequently Asked Questions about the AeroBox™ Rear Mount Truck Cargo Box
1. What if I have installation problems?
Be sure to follow the installation instructions at all times to avoid most problems. Nevertheless, although the AeroBox installation is meant to be universal for full-size pickups, there are sure to be situations that we have not foreseen. In these cases, please call technical support at 844-918-3688, or leave us an email at [email protected] and we will do our best to understand your situation and provide recommendations so the AeroBox will work as intended.
2. What stores near me carry the AeroBox?
The AeroBox is currently only available through our Internet site and can be direct shipped to your home. Check back to see as localized dealers are added to our distribution network.
3. How do I exchange or return an item?
Please contact customer support at 844-918-3688
4. How is the AeroBox different from the other truck cargo/toolbox options?
Unlike traditional truck tool/cargo boxes mounted behind the cab, the AeroBox is mounted at the tailgate, thus greatly enhancing ease of access to cargo, solving one of the most common annoyances facing truck owners regarding their truck-box. The rearward positioning and aerodynamically engineered shape of the AeroBox improves truck performance factors like aerodynamic drag, traction, and visibility. In addition, other accessories, such as most tonneau covers work great with the AeroBox.
5. Do I have to drill holes into my vehicle?
Yes. In order to secure the AeroBox and its contents from shifting during hard braking, the AeroBox is secured to the bed with strong mechanical fasteners that will require some drilling. Please see the AeroBox installation instructions to see how easy this is. Please note, that despite the strong attachment method, be careful with extremely rough terrain and/or overloading your AeroBox, which could lead to dislodging of the box in severe cases.
6. Is the AeroBox durable and secure?
The AeroBox is made from an extremely durable linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) material. This material has been specially designed to handle the elements and resist impacts. Since this is a polymer, it will never rust nor peel. The door on the AeroBox comes with a bulb seal to keep the elements out and two locks with specially designed hook cams to keep everything else out! Even then, the door fits snugly against a closed tailgate, so when the tailgate is locked, the door cannot be accessed.
7. Is installation of the AeroBox easy?
Installation is relatively easy, but will take about 1 1/2 hours for an average skilled installer and does require accurate measurements and proper use of tools. If you do have a unique situation that we have not foreseen, please give us a call and we will try to work through the issues with you so you have the best installation experience possible.
8. Will the AeroBox fit my truck?
Great question! The Aerobox has been designed to fit in most full size pick up trucks, regardless of make or model year. However, please ensure your tailgate opening is at lease 58.5" wide and that there are no obstructions below 19 1/2" from bed floor, i.e. tonneau cover hardware. There are some models that will not work with the AeroBox, such as step side boxes, and those with major built-in" features, like the RAM Box. In addition, if you have an aftermarket accessory, such as a drop-in liner that extends significantly inward from the original box sheet metal in the area where the AeroBox would be installed, please give us a call to review whether the AeroBox will work in your situation. The AeroBox comes with a standard installation with quick disconnects to the floor and an upgraded version that has adjustable dock-n-lock side pods to enable fitment with most trucks. Again, if in doubt, please call to double check before ordering.
