Preparation
The degree to which you follow these preparation instructions will determine the quality of the installed product. Please follow all instructions and be patient. If you are unsure of any area of the installation after reading these instructions, please call us at 844-918-3688, and we will answer any questions that you have.
Installation
NOTE: Dry-Fit all BumperShellz pieces to their specific locations BEFORE removing ANY of the red backing strips from the tape. Make sure all pieces are correct, i.e., you have received all pieces shown above, color/pattern is correct, and that all are undamaged. There should not be any (or extremely minimal) bumper surface visible once the bumper cover is placed on the bumper. Dry Fitting is also good practice for lining up each piece and guiding it into place, visualizing how to do it when the backing strips are removed, and the tape is STICKY. Note that once the backing is removed, we cannot give full credit for return.
2. Remove plastic trim from Bumper center.
INSTALLING SIDE SECTIONS
3. Pop off fog lamp surrounds with plastic trim tool.
3. Ensure the bumper is clean and free of debris. Use Isopropyl rubbing alcohol to free the bumper surface of any chemicals or soap residue that may limit the effectiveness of the 3M tape. Wipe the adhesion promoter towel along all areas of the bumper where the 3M tape will be contacting.
4. Begin by installing the side sections of the front cover.
6. Wrap the front side cover around to the corner of the bumper. The top edge of the BumperShell might get caught by the gasket that sits on top of the bumper. Use your trim tool to create a little space to allow the BumperShell to slide firmly against the bumper.
7. Make sure the side cover is properly positioned including the areas around the fog lamp, and the clearance holes for the lower bumper bolts before applying pressure to the 3M tape
8. Once satisfied with the position of the cover, begin peeling back the red backing that you taped to the front of the part to allow it to adhere to the bumper surface. Keep the cover held in position as you do this. When finished, begin putting firm pressure on the areas of the cover where the 3M tape is contacting the bumper surface.
9. Repeat steps 3-8 on the opposite side.
INSTALLING THE UPPER CENTER OVERLAY
Watch this video as an additional resource to assist with this section of the installation.

10. Prepare to install the top center section by peeling back a small section of the 3M tape and adhering it to the front side for access after installation.
11. Your upper black plastic trim is held on by expanding plastic clips that are spaced several inches away from each other down the length of the trim. You will need to slightly loosen the tightness of this trim to allow for the cover to slip underneath. Do this by inserting wide, rigid plastic trim tool directly in front of the most forward clips. Then, rotate the plastic trim tool up and down to create a small gap in front of each clip
12. Now begin installing the upper center shell. Use your trim tools to create space to slip the overlay completely under the upper black trim. Feed the lip of the Shell under the plastic trim and move down the length of the bumper using this technique.
INSTALLING LOWER CENTER OVERLAY
13. Completely remove the red backing to the tape on the lower center overlay to prepare it for installation.
14. Center the overlay between the two side covers by using the lower bumper bolt holes. It should be overlaying the ends of each of the side covers you installed earlier. Only put pressure on the taped areas once you are certain it is in the correct position, and all visible chrome is covered.
REINSTALLING TRIM AND FOG LAMP BEZELS
15. Remove the metal teeth clips in the areas shown below on the backside of. Depending on your fog lamp configuration, you may have 4 or 3 clips to remove on each side.
16. To replace the clips on the outboard; first slide the black rubber O-rings over the plastic tabs. Then slip the replacement black metal clips that you received with your purchase over top of the O-ring. This addition makes it possible for the clips to secure into the bumper even with the addition of the thickness of the Shellz.
17. On the back side of the fog lamp. Simply replace the metal clips with the new, larger metal clips you received. As with the center trim, these larger clips will allow the fog lamp bezel to snap into place taking into account the additional thickness.
18. Now that the new clips are installed, pop the center trim and fog lamp bezels back into place. They may require a few firm taps to seat correctly.
19. Reinstall the lower valance and any other trim that was removed at the beginning of the installation, including the license plate bracket.
20. All the sections of the BumperShellz should now be fully installed. Put firm pressure once again on all areas where the 3M tape is contacting the bumper to ensure proper adhesion.
21. Wait 48 hours before taking your vehicle through automated car washes or driving on the highway. Reapply pressure to all taped areas 24 hours after the initial installation.
NOTE for Maximum Adhesion: The acrylic foam tape used to adhere your BumperShellz is “pressure sensitive”, so making sure there is sufficient pressure applied to each of the taped areas is vital to achieve optimum adhesion of your BumperShellz™ to your bumper. It is also recommended that you come back a few hours later, or the next day, to give each BumperShellz piece another pressure rub to ensure the best adhesion. Allow the tape adhesive to set up for at least 24 hours before washing your truck. Maximum adhesion is reached after 3-5 days in temperatures above 70 degrees, longer if it is cooler. Once the adhesive has fully bonded to a properly prepared bumper surface, it is nearly impossible to remove the BumperShellz without damaging them. Please refer to “removal instructions” in the BumperShellz FAQ section on the website, should removal be necessary.
Care for your BumperShellz™
Care for your BumperShellz™ like you would any fine paint finish. Use high quality cleaning products designed specifically for car care.
Gloss finishes: Oftentimes, minor scratches can be buffed out on the gloss finishes. Rubbing compounds can be used with a mechanical buffer, for deeper scratches.
Matte finishes are much more susceptible to abrasions, leaving a "glossy sheen" on the finish, which are generally permanent. Do not attempt to buff out scratches/abrasions on your matte finish, as this will generally make the damage worse. Avoid excessive friction when trying to remove anything stuck to the matte finish surface and keep cleaning rags/water clean and abrasive free. Abrasive brush-type car washes are not recommended, as they can abrade the Matte finish. Brushless car washes are acceptable.
